铁缺乏症包括开始时体内贮铁耗尽，继之缺铁性红细胞生成，最终引起缺铁性贫血。IDA指缺铁引起的小细胞低色素性贫血及相关的缺铁异常，是血红素合成异常性贫血中的一种。
